FAQ's about Little Beats

What makes Little Beats different from other baby/toddler classes?

At little beats, we combine early childhood development with dance and music to create a positive approach to learning. Our curriculums include research-based methods that will stimulate all areas of your young child's growth including physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and language. We also introduce dance in a gender-neutral way that comes natural to little ones and helps build their confidence above all. Most importantly, grown-ups play an active role in Little Beats classes as their child's movement models and movement makers. Grown-ups will learn new ways they can engage with their child at home while also building a healthy bond together in class.

How long is the session and what if I don't want to commit?

Sessions are 12 weeks long. We know this is longer than most baby and tot class but we know that consistency and repition will optimize your child's learning during this rapid time of growth in his/her life. We also know life with a baby or tot is unpredictable which is why we allow you to make up any missed classes OR will credit you up to 3 missed classes that are not made up throughout the session. We've also decreased our per-class price for the 12 week session as an incentive for making the commitment to your child's learning in our program.

How will this class benefit my child?

It is a fact that babies instinctually pick up on musical stimuli and their bodies start to dance before they can even talk. In Little Beats classes, we leverage this natural inclination and use it to foster all types of learning in a fun and interactive way.

Here are some resources for why what we do at Little Beats will help your child's body and mind:

  • This article from the NAEYC nicely sums up how the activities we do in class help with development.

  • Check out this informative blog post from Intellidance which is the method we use for Little Beast Babies and Tkes movement classes!

How much does it cost?

Classes vary from $160-$230 for the 12 week session depending on the class. For ages 4+, The Dance Academy pricing differs since it is a full-year program.

For more information on pricing, contact emily@spevents.com.

What is the missed class policy?

We know life with a baby or tot is unpredictable which is why we allow you to make up any missed classes OR will credit you up to 3 missed classes that are not made up throughout the session. We've also decreased our per-class price for the 12 week session as an incentive for making the commitment to your child's learning in our program.

Can I bring more than 1 child to class?

  • If your second child is an older sibling: You may bring them if they can participate independently as a ‘leader’ in the trial. But we discourage bringing any siblings who will need your attention or be a distraction to the dancer who’s trying the class. Parent participation is very important in the Baby and Tykes class as the little ones will look to their parent to be a movement model and partner in the class. Older siblings are not permitted to attend class on a regular basis unless they are registered. We do offer $50 off second class registration and that includes second children.

  • If your second child is a baby: Again, we want to minimize all distractions to our babies and tykes during class so parents must be able to focus their attention on their dancer in the class so baby siblings must be strapped to parent in a carrier or in a carriage bassinet so grown-ups hands and body are free to dance! This rule applies to class as well. Infant siblings allowed as long as parent has two hands and body available.

  • WE DO HAVE A SIBLING OR SECOND CLASS DISCOUNT: SIGN UP FOR 2 CLASS OR SIGN UP TWO CHILDREN OR MORE AND RECEIVE $50 OFF.

Can I drop in to class instead of signing up for the session?

Drop-in's are sometimes available depending on the class. To find out if a class is available for drop-in, contact emily@spevents.com. Drop-in's are $25 for Rock-a-Baby, Little Beats Babies & Tykes, and Tiny Dancers.

Drop-in's are NOT permitted for Tutu Tots, Hop and Bop, and First Steps.

What if I refer a friend?

  • $20 credit for referrals

  • You can also receive a $5 credit for posting about Little Beats on social media! Contact Emily@spevents.com to learn more about these opportunities.

Is there a discount if I take more than one class or enroll more than one child?

Yes! If you sign up for two classes or if you enroll two children, you will recieve a $50 discount.
